83rd Monroe Invitational Field Preview

Andrew Goodman – Oklahoma

The top-ranked player in the field with a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) of 15, Goodman most recently won the Trans-Mississippi Championship with rounds of 69, 66, 71, and a closing round 64. A senior at Oklahoma, Goodman has already qualified to play the Western Amateur July 29-August 3, and the US Amateur at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota August 12-19.

Parker Bell – Florida 

Bell returns to the field after taking 15th in the 2023 Monroe Invitational. He also won the long drive competition for last year’s Monroe Invitational. The 93rd-ranked amateur in the world, Bell had a strong finish at the North & South Amateur Championship the week of June 10th, taking 17th place. Bell competed at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst, taking 88th place. 

Ashton McCulloch – Michigan State

A rising senior, McCulloch adds a Spartan to the field in 2024. A native of Canada, McCulloch is ranked 161 according to WAGR. McCulloch also competed at the 2024 US Open where he finished 120th. He had a strong finish at the Big 10 Championship as a junior, taking 3rd place with a 3-round score of 215 (71, 69, 75). He led the Spartans in scoring average in 2023-24 at 70.89.

Gator Country

For the second straight year, the Florida Gators will have the largest contingent of participants in the field. Joining Parker Bell (see above) in the field is Matthew Kress, the 152nd-ranked amateur in the world. Kress is returning to The Monroe after finishing as the top Gator in 2023 with a tie for 10th place. For the third-straight year, Ryan Hart is joining the field. He finished 24th in 2022 and was 38th a season ago. The other two gators in the field are Joseph Pagdin and Rylan Shim

LSU Flavor

Four LSU Tigers will tee it up for the 2023 Monroe Invitational, headlined by Drew Doyle who currently has a WAGR of 159. Doyle is making his second appearance at the Monroe after putting together a strong performance in 2022 with an eighth place finish. Next in line is Luke Haskew who was last year’s first round leader after carding a 64 (-6). Haskew ended up finishing tied four seventh at 5-under par. Lance Yates and Noah McWilliams are the final two LSU players making their first appearance.

International Presence

While the majority of the field hails from the United States, seven other countries are represented in 2024. The largest contingent is from Canada with four. Ashton McCulloch (Michigan State) is the headliner, followed by a duo of Kansas Jayhawks in William Duquette and Felix Bouchard. Duquette was sixth in the 2023 Monroe Invitational after finishing -6. 

Behind McCulloch, Argentina native Vicente Marzilio has a WAGR of 189. He is joined by fellow countryman Juan Martin Loureiro and Juan Ignacio De Giacomi. 

Other countries represented in the field are South Africa, India, England, Chinese Taipei, and Australia.

Garrett Endicott – Mississippi State

Coming in as the 150th-ranked player according to WAGR is Garrett Endicott of Mississippi State. Endicott most recently finished 12th at the Northeast Amateur Invitational at Wannamoisett Country Club. 2023 Monroe Invitational runner-up Anthony Delisanti was the winner of the Northeast Amateur Invitational that Endicott finished in 12th-place in.

Dudley Hart

The 2024 Blitz speaker will be longtime PGA player Dudley Hart. Hart is now an assistant coach for the Florida Gators men’s golf team where his son Ryan Hart is set to be a senior. A four-time All-American during his time at Florida, Hart has played in 486 PGA Tour events with 55 Top 10 finishes. His top finishes came with victories at the 1996 RBC Canadian Open and the 2000 Honda Classic.
